Caring For Your Wood Art.
General Information
Wood is a natural material and is affected by its environment. It may change color, shrink or swell, etc. over time. Applied finishes may slow down the changes produced by humidity, temperature and light, but won’t stop these changes completely. These changes are not defects, just part of the character of wood. Some general practices to follow with your wooden items:
keep wooden items out of damp or excessively dry environments
keep wooden items away from direct exposure to heaters and air conditioners
keep wooden items out of strong light
If you have questions about how to care for your item specifically, just ask.
Food-Safe Items
Unless specifically indicated, ONLY THE FOOD-CONTACT SURFACE IS FOOD-SAFE. For instance, the interior and rim of a bowl or cup.
Do NOT immerse, microwave or put in the dishwasher.
Unless specifically indicated for your food-safe item, do NOT use your food-safe item to hold alcohol, acidic foods or liquids, hot foods or hot liquids.
To clean, wash by hand as needed. Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, cool water and mild liquid soap (for example, hand dishwashing liquid) and dry immediately.
If the finish on the food-contact surface ever develops scratches, peels or chips, do NOT continue using the item with food or liquid.
If in doubt, contact me.
